SWAMP DOGG REVEALS COVER OF THE BEATLES’ “ROCKY RACCOON” AND NEW SONG “FOOLS LIKE ME” FOR BLACKGRASS: FROM WEST VIRGINIA TO 125th ST DELUXE EDITION
OH BOY RECORDS
October 11, 2024: Today, the legendary artist Swamp Dogg released a deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed new album Blackgrass: From West Virginia to 125th St, which adds a cover of The Beatlesβ βRocky Raccoonβ and the brand new song βFools Like Meβ. The deluxe edition marks a victory lap for Swamp Dogg following the album debuting at #2 on Billboardβs Bluegrass Albums Chart, his debut at the Grand Ole Opry, a performance at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and multiple showcases at AmericanaFest.
βI love songs that paint pictures, give you reasons to think, and allow you to be a part of it via identification. Paul McCartney did just that in writing βRocky Raccoon’ .That’s why I recorded it,β Swamp Dogg explains about covering The Beatles.
About βFools Like Meβ, Swamp Dogg adds, βI’ve seen this scenario played out by friends, family, and strangers. This is the type of story that’s been around for a million years and it makes for some spooky entertainment.β
Produced by Ryan Olson (Poliça, Gayngs) and recorded with an all-star band including Noam Pikelny, Sierra Hull, Jerry Douglas, Chris Scruggs, Billy Contreras, and Kenny Vaughan, Blackgrass is a riotous blend of past and present, mixing the sacred and the profane. In typical Swamp Dogg fashion, it blurs the lines between folk, roots, country, blues, and soul alongside special guests like Margo Price, Vernon Reid, Jenny Lewis, Justin Vernon, and The Cactus Blossoms.
