L.A. ALT-ROCK DUO ANALOG PARTY RELEASES DARK GRUNGE-POP ANTHEM “RIPTIDE”
INDEPENDENT
Los Angeles duo Analog Party — singer/multi-instrumentalist Animaan Pathak and bassist/guitarist Charles Horin — distill grunge, post-punk, and industrial influences into their own distinct brand of alternative rock on their upcoming single “Riptide” (feat. Final Child). Co-produced by Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Poppy), “Riptide” channels The Cure, Sonic Youth, and Failure, bringing together atmospheric synths and dark guitar tones to capture the distress of living in an increasingly chaotic world. Jennifer Akerman (a.k.a Final Child) contrasts the heaviness of the music with her beautifully dreamlike guest vocals.
Their debut EP Model Youth (2019) runs the gamut from grooving hard rock (“Model Youth”, “Enemy”) to folk-inflected acoustic ballads (“Gone”), showcasing their wide musical range and a conscious desire to avoid being pigeonholed artistically. The duo released three more singles between 2020 and 2021: “Absolution”, “One”, and “Blind Driver” — each track laden with powerful and emotive vocals, fierce guitar riffs, and a pummeling rhythm section. The music video for “One” reached over 20,000 YouTube views within a month, and “Blind Driver” received regular radio airplay on New York’s Q104.3.
“With “Riptide”, we feel creatively liberated,” said Pathak. “It definitely marks a fresh chapter for us, opening up the door to explore so many more sounds and moods moving forward.”
