KANDLE – “CREATION OF POISON”
HIDDEN PONY RECORDS
Out now on Hidden Pony Records — a darkly funny, cinematic new single and video blending camp, seduction, and satire.
Montreal alt-pop artist Kandle returns with her boldest work yet, “Creation of Poison” — a sultry, unhinged anthem about toxic love and beautiful self-destruction. Accompanied by a gorgeously absurd music video that transforms a Jane Fonda-style workout into a gothic fever dream and a swamp-monster romance, the release cements Kandle’s place in the lineage of fearless, genre-bending storytellers.
“I wanted to make something that felt like if Jane Fonda got lost in a David Lynch film — equal parts sweat, seduction, and swamp,” says Kandle. “It’s about realizing you’re addicted to the very thing that’s destroying you — and dancing through the chaos anyway.”
“Creation of Poison” was co-written and co-produced by Jeffrey Mitchell, Kandle’s longtime collaborator and creative partner. Together, the pair form an unstoppable DIY force — writing, producing, shooting, and editing their own cinematic universe completely independently. Their chemistry shines through every frame and every beat, fusing raw artistry with fearless experimentation.
With hypnotic vocals and darkly cinematic percussion that evoke PJ Harvey, Portishead, and She Wants Revenge, “Creation of Poison” blurs the line between satire and sincerity. The self-directed video merges vintage VHS textures with camp horror energy — balancing humor, heartbreak, and high-gloss chaos in perfect rhythm.
Released via Hidden Pony Records, “Creation of Poison” continues to expand Kandle’s noir-pop world — one where heartbreak becomes performance art, eyeliner counts as armor, and every melody hides a confession.
