DIZZY SHARES NEW SINGLE “CLOSE” AND ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR
DIZZY LP OUT AUGUST 18 VIA ROYAL MOUNTAIN RECORDS
Oshawa alt-rockers Dizzy share their yearning new single βClose,” along with an accompanying music video. Vulnerable, bittersweet, and hauntingly beautiful, βCloseβ viscerally captures the cycle of both comfort and loss that exists when maintaining longterm friendships throughout all of life’s triumphs and complications. βCloseβ is the fourth single from the group’s upcoming DIZZY LP (out August 18th via Royal Mountain Records).
There is something powerfully intimate about βCloseβ, which melds a pure, resonant guitar with a liquid bass and flawlessly subtle percussion. Lead singer Katie Munshawβs vocal performance is tender and laced with melancholy as she leads her listeners through a poignant sonic landscape. The track simmers and builds before flowing over into the soaring outro. The guitars keen and Katie flexes an effortless falsetto before sweeping into her lower register, harnessing the sentimental nature of the track in her voice. She sings βAlways felt we went swinginβ / Destined to miss / Always felt we were lightning / Just waiting, waiting to hitβ before βCloseβ ends abruptly, capturing a feeling of both uncertainty and gentle optimism.
On the track, Munshaw explains, “βBack in 2019 we were on tour in Eau Claire, Wisconsin when the wheel bearing on our van went kaputz on American Thanksgiving. It was a hard day but the only thing I can really remember about it is laughing in the mechanics waiting room and then finding our way back to a hotel with a bottle of green room whiskey. Weβve been through a lot as a band but we always manage to reconnect on itchy hotel beds between episodes of Family Guy. “Close” is about a lot of things but mainly itβs about the comfort Mack, Charlie and Alex bring me.β”
