ANNIE TAYLOR “LOVE IS BLIND” OUT NOW | NEW ALBUM INNER SMILEΒ COMING JULY 7
TAXI GAUCHE RECORDS
“Love Is Blind” by Annie Taylor marks the debut single from their forthcoming new album Inner Smile out this summer on Taxi Gauche Records.
Annie Taylor have recently recorded their eagerly-anticipated second album Inner Smile in Bristol (UK) with uber-producer Ali Chant (Yard Act; Katy J. Pearson; Aldous Harding; Sorry).
The first single “Love Is Blind” is a fuzzy, two-minute swelling of unrestrained punk fury that kicks in with a furious Gini warning the listener “stay away before I explode, anything could make me overload”. It builds up to a point where the chorus explodes in a cloud of distorted strings, distortion and acidic rage. This punk, 90s-inspired single, sets the tone for Annie Taylor’s new studio album. While the album has a song for just about every emotion, “Love Is Blind” is an angsty, thrilling, thrashy, raw and self-indulgent track – that’s Annie Taylor’s most amusingly hateful song announcing their sophomore album Inner Smile.
England’s music luminaries Gigwise describes Annie Taylor as “mellow, cool guitar romp through desert rock, shoegaze, indie and pop influences. Lush.” – and not without reason!
The four friends Gini Jungi, Tobias Arn, Michael Mutter and Daniel Bachmann joined the Taxi Gauche Records family when they collectively decided to jump on a train for the most exhilarating adventure of their lives.
From playing at barely equipped shacks to supporting Skunk Anansie on their 2022 tour, the band has been highly active since their debut release sweet mortality in 2020. It’s a record as seeped in pop as it is in psychedelia and grunge which ends up at a beautiful mid-point (Taxi Gauche Records). With that said, itΚΌs not surprising that Annie Taylor were inundated with requests to perform at numerous festivals including MTV Music Week, Reeperbahn, Zurich Openair, Waves Vienna and Montreux Jazz Festival, before heading out on tour in the UK, Germany and Switzerland.
Whilst alerting the ears of the 405, Gigwise, Indie Shuffle and L.A.Weekly, the band have garnered laudable comparisons to early Hole, Wolf Alice and Warpaint. Hailing from Zurich, Annie Taylor are surfing around the corner with an extremely nonchalant mixture of grunge and freshly exuberant rock, spreading a buoyant, uplifting atmosphere everywhere, with their undeniably energetic live shows.
“Love Is Blind” will be released on 14th April 2023. The album ‘inner smile’ is out on 7th July 2023.
