Heiko Maile and Julian Demarre, pop musicians turned film composers, have been working together since Camouflage’s Meanwhile album in the mid 90s.
Using esoteric Japanese keyboards designed in the 70s for the sound of tomorrow, they have now recorded music for the days after tomorrow: The lead single “Melancholia” kicks off the genre-bending album Neostalgia a unique mix of electronic styles and 1970s Krautrock featuring intros/outros, flutes & vocoders, and some tracks that even push the 7-minute mark.
“Melancholia” as a longing for the known and the unknown, the past and the future, became our guiding star for all the other tracks. “Melancholia” is available now and will be followed by the album Neostalgia later this summer.
