GREAT FALLS – “BLUE BRICKS”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE MUSIC PREMIERE
Naarm/Melbourne indie outfit Great Falls unveil their latest single “Blue Bricks,” premiering through Spill Magazine. Rich with atmosphere and emotional weight, the track showcases the band’s talent for pairing heartfelt lyricism with sweeping, textured instrumentation. The track reflects on identity, memory, and the feeling of existing between cultures. Written by vocalist and guitarist Lillian Albazi following a visit to Berlin’s reconstructed Ishtar Gate, the song captures the push and pull between connection and separation, particularly through the lens of her Assyrian and Australian heritage. Themes of distance, belonging, and the inevitability of change ripple throughout the track, which gradually transforms from an intimate reflection into something expansive and cinematic, highlighting the collaborative chemistry that continues to define Great Falls’ evolving sound.
ARTIST QUOTE
“I (Lillian) wrote the frame of ‘Blue Bricks’ as a reflection on identity, impermanence and the way life unfolds in fleeting, layered moments. As a half-Assyrian, half-Australian woman, I’ve often felt a physical distance from my Assyrian roots. The song became a way of processing how experiences stack and shift. ‘Blue Bricks’ is about accepting the limits of each moment and finding peace in being as close to things as you are.” ~Lillian
