Chicago-based songwriter Ari Lindo (they/them) returns with their forthcoming sophomore album, For Much Longer, that further defines their evolving sound. Rooted in the intimacy of folk songwriting, Lindo blends harmonic depth and layered rhythm with influences from indie rock, Brazilian music, and Chicago’s DIY and jazz-rooted scene. Their work pairs melodic storytelling with textured arrangements, creating a sound that feels both grounded and expansive.
More personal and sonically bold, the new album leans into a distinctly more rock-forward direction while continuing Lindo’s exploration of movement, atmosphere, and emotional depth — capturing an artist refining and expanding their sonic world. The lead single “Simple” sets the tone for the upcoming album, to be released this May, showcasing how Lindo has given his softer folk-inspired songwriting a sharper and angular edge.

“‘Simple’ is about navigating anxiety and learning to trust the signs your body gives you — including the boundaries you push and the exceptions you try to make. It’s one of the more in-your-face tracks on the album, showcasing the grittier, math-rock sound the band has been leaning into. The driving rhythm section and interweaving guitars create an energetic, spiraling sensation. This tune has always carried a punch live, so recreating that energy in the studio was very important.
