SEASONAL FALLS
HAPPY DAYS
INDEPENDENT
If the name of the band, the album title, and the album’s cover lead you towards for many dreaded new age category, you would most probably be quite off the mark.
That ‘most probably’ caution (if it is so), relates to the fact that the Swiss duo of songwriter Roman Gabriel and vocalist Andrew Pelletier, deal in a different kind of subdued, sophisticated melancholia more related to Americana-tinged explorations of Wilco or Teenage Fanclub, when these bands are in such a mood, or even Kingsbury Manx, now (sadly) forgotten purveyors of the similar sound.
Yet the duo, who are also involved in other projects (Gabriel in The Kind Hills, and Pelletier in Fur Trader), with all the possible influences that you can hear traces of here, forge their own path and create some music that actually fits the band name, album title, and its cover in the really positive connotations.
