IAMX
UNMASK EP | IAMIXED: REWORKS FAULT LINES ALBUMS 1 AND 2
UNFALL RECORDS

IAMX is Chris Corner, originally from London. Since making his debut in 2004, he has had several artists join him on tours, but in the studio, it is pretty much Corner. These two releases see Corner looking back, a little. Fault Lines 1 and Fault Lines 2 were released in 2023 and 2024 respectively, and IAMIXED: Reworks Fault Lines Albums 1 and 2 features some previously released mixes, as well as the unreleased “Infinite Fear Jets (Mimetic Hexes Rework).” The UNMASK EP was sold exclusively during the Fault Lines 2 tour. Now, all of this is available via streaming and download for all fans to enjoy.
The UNMASK EP is full of interesting sounds, mixes and lyrics. From the majestic opening of “Grass Before The Scythe (ArtBleedsMoney Rework)”, complete with piercing vocals and synths to the almost retro sounding “Artificial Innocence,” but the original and the UNMASK remix to melodic and mellow “Radical Self Love” and “There Will Be Times When I Will Need To Hurt You”, the EP is full of twists and turns. It shows that IAMX is not a one trick pony, but rather a riveting and fascinating artist with many different sounds and styles.
IAMIXED: Reworks Fault Lines Albums 1 and 2 are tracks from those two albums, remixed and reworked. As noted, there is one previously unreleased track. “Infinite Fear Jets (Mimetic Hexes Rework)”. This along with a couple of others are remixed by Mimetic Hexes, which is the project of the Grammy nominated Toronto-based producer Ryan McCambridge. This album is very energetic and pounding electronica. It is still melodic, and Corner provides emotional and pleading vocals. The songs are well chosen and excellent. “War Of Words (Orchestral Rework)” stands out and shows Corner in a more contemplative mode. Perhaps the most interesting song comes at the end, “In Bondage (ArtBleedsMoney Rework). It is quite chill and features some different vocals from Corner.
Both of these new releases should be greeted with great enthusiasm from IAMX fans. These releases have been quite difficult to obtain, as the originals have been difficult to find as they were exclusively sold at gigs. These two releases allow fans the opportunities to hear the music and judge for themselves. These are well produced and well thought out re-releases.
