SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: H.C. McENTIRE – EVERY ACRE

H.C. McEntire

H.C. McEntire
Every Acre
Merge Records

Durham, North Carolina might not exactly be a renowned music center, but that there is quite a good chance that singer-songwriter H.C. McEntire and her latest release, Every Acre, might give that city a boost in its musical image.

This is not only due to the fact that McEntire has an excellent song writing touch and a voice to match, but she also comes up with equally thoughtful lyrics, something that might be connected with McEntire being an established writer with a number of books of prose, poems and lyrics.

As you take a listen after listen to the album, it is those subdued song writing and lyrics element that just start cropping up to the top that show the multi-layered approach McEntire takes on here something that just keeps on beckoning those repeated listens.

It all makes H.C. McEntire both a musical and writing force to be reckoned with.
