COHEED AND CAMBRIA
THE FATHER OF MAKE BELIEVE
VIRGIN MUSIC GROUP

The progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria are back with another concept album to add to front man Claudio Sanchez’s creation, The Amory Wars science fiction storyline. The Father of Make Believe, their 11th studio album, is out and it has a variety of sounds that give it the Coheed appeal.
The opening track, “Yesterday’s Lost”, begins with a minute of soothing piano, followed by the mellow orchestra, making it the acoustic ballad of the album. Up next is “Goodbye Sunshine”. Sitting on a foundation of riffs, this pop-rock track tells of celebrating the life of a friend, remembering the good times and the bad, then saying goodbye with no regrets.
“Search For Tomorrow”, the second track released from the album shifts into straight rock. Travis Stever’s guitar playing is a dominant element from the start, staying strong throughout the entirety of the song with an amazing lead break just over two minutes in.
Right in the middle of the album, they punch with the nu-metal, darker lyrics spice of the album, “Play The Poet”. They egg on for three and a half minutes, throwing in the expected breakdown then immediately moving on to the next track.
The album closer is “Continuum IV: So It Goes”, another pop-rock track that abruptly transitions into an orchestra that closes out the song as well as the album. The album is just another act in the Vaxis saga with just two more remaining.
