Exactly a year and a day after its initial release, Abigail Lapell is rereleasing her Stolen Time album, this time as a deluxe edition. So, what has happened to the Toronto singer-songwriter in the meantime and how does the original album fare with four additional tracks and the year that has passed?

Well, with all the praise the album has received, Lapell has won The Songwriter Of The Year at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

As far as the music on Stolen Time is concerned, the time passed has served it well, and the four additional tracks add depth and view of the artist’s original vision.

As we noted previously, throughout the album, Lapell resorts to subtle arrangements creating an essential musical variation that takes her from the basic setup like on the opener “Land of Plenty” to sounding like she is fronting The Band like on “I See Music”, as elsewhere on the album.

This deluxe edition confirms that there is an excellent chance that Stolen Time will keep cropping up on your turntable or playlist, actually filling that ‘stolen’ time with true musical content.
