SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: 16VOLT – MORE OF LESS

16volt

16VOLT
MORE OF LESS
METROPOLIS RECORDS

16Volt has released More Of Less, bringing an interesting mix of industrial hymns, with some, like “White Noise”, evoking the feeling of being unheard. More Of Less in itself is unique, eliciting a feeling we can all relate to, is it about doing more with less? It’s different to NegativeOnArrivals, but whatever…

This release is a smooth compilation with a true industrial rhythmic synthetic rampage, featuring a decent mix of evenly distributed guttural and melodic vocals. The tracks are distinctive, which adds to the ambience and the sleekness that only industrial can bring. “On Memory Lane” is a superb example of this, and to be honest, it is hypnotic or maybe cathartic? Whatever it is, there is an absolute attraction.

Overall, 16Volt has released something pretty cool in More Of Less. Is it my favourite from them? No, but that’s okay – it has industrial merit, which has somewhat faded from the mainstream in recent years, and in 16Volt, I see an opportunity for rejuvenation in these complex times. Right on, 16Volt, let’s ride that tumultuous wave.

About the Author
Victoria Love-Rainbow
I am an avid connoisseur of music experiences but never had the courage to share them until now. My inspiration comes from the '90s alternative and punk rock music I grew up listening to. Bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, Eve 6 and Everclear shaped my worldview and taste in music. I want to capture some of their energy and spirit in my stories. Thanks for checking out my bio and my work!
