NØIR – FALLEN
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE ALBUM PREMIERE
With their masked flair for the dramatic, the New York City-based NØIR debuted with the album Darkly Near in 2013. Now, comes Fallen, NØIR’s eighth release of sophisticated dark pop. Fallen is a collaborative EP that features vocalist Athan Maroulis, along with guitarist and producer Erik Gustafson, vocalist Kai Irina Hahn, cellist Rebekah Feng, guitarist and producer Ray Wilcox and remixes by Silver Walks and Paradox Obscur, who also created a video for their remix of the song “Fallen.” After the release of A Pleasure in late 2019, NØIR began working in Austin, TX on what would later become the Fallen EP before the pandemic prompted delays. Work resumed as the world returned in ’22, Fallen was put on hold due to the unexpected passing of Metropolis founder Dave Heckman. Eventually and laboriously, the catchy dance pulsing single “Fallen” was completed, along with diverse remixes and a sensual female vocal version from Kai Irina Hahn as well as a plodding new song “Death is Easy,” about a potter’s field in war torn Afghanistan. Ironically, this EP took so long to complete that it started to merge with plans for other NØIR releases such as an all acoustic EP, readily heard on the cello laced version of Psychedelic Furs “Love My Way.” The Fallen EP is being released on May 25th by Metropolis Records on all digital and streaming platforms.
