SET FEUX
SET FEUX
INDEPENDENT
Officially, this is Set Feux’s debut, self-titled album. But, Toronto singer songwriter Diana Planche, who is behind the Set Feux moniker is also a member of The Paint Movement as the band’s singer/keyboardist, and some might have noticed her at Barzin’s concerts. After all, they are partners in life.
Yet, while due to the latter fact some might expect Barzin’s heavy influence on this album, his participation here is quite discrete, as the album is Planche’s show of talent all the way, and it she seems to have plenty of it.
Her quite dreamy sound weaves all over the place – from impressionist classical music to soft R&B akin to say, Dusty Springfield, and it is all interwoven together with such ease that musical seams go completely unnoticed.
Planche at no point overstates her classical music training, but intuitively lets her music take its own direction, giving us one of those albums that might bear the tag of ‘late night excellence’.
