NEW ALBUM III TRACK LISTING REVEALED VIA MONKEYTOWN RECORDS
Coinciding with a Spring 2016 tour Moderat return with their new album III.
Intent on creating something that contrasted their own individual projects, Moderat — the trio comprised of Gernot Bronsert, Sebastian Szary (aka Modeselektor) and Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) — complete the trilogy with III.
III pairs an emotional pull with sensual imagery, creating dynamic sound and depth with sophisticated lyrics and themes as they direct their gaze inward. Apparat gives unfiltered insight into his personal take on the journey we call life – he is opening up, discussing his shadow, his fears and doubts. Modeselektor reach another level, develop an intoxicating energy with their distinct rhythmical textures.
One of the best parts of Moderat is their use of electronics to achieve orchestral diversity. With III, they update the songwriting tradition with an intriguing palette, born of careful attention and skill, informed by their experiences with sounds of nearly 25 years of sub-and-club culture. These three were initially brought together by Berlin’s now legendary rave scene and with this as their common foundation as individuals, III signifies Moderat’s maturation in modern pop and mastery of the group.
Moderat’s III is out April 1, 2016 on Monkeytown Records.
The trio will take their impressive live show all over Europe and North America in support of this release.

The passion to move beyond already existing sounds and styles united Sascha (Apparat) , Gernot and Szary (Modeselektor) into a lasting artistic friendship and the supergroup of Moderat. Having turned out to be an indispensable part of Europe´s festival scene, they have been collaborating since 2002. It took them until 2009 to develop the unique sound of Moderat. Walloping bass lines and twitching beats on one side of the sonic spectrum, Apparat´s delicate voice on the other: precisely the harsh contrast allows both acts to collobarate. With the very special visuals of Pfadfinderei, Moderat toured three continents. In 2013 Modeselektor and Apparat met again. The emotional and stylistic spectrum of their music grew wider: Moderat throw highly energetic breakbeats, powerful basslines, subtle hip-hop grooves, organic tribal sounds and emotional festival anthems in their musical fusion reactor. Being crowned by “Bad Kingdom” as their biggest hit so far, the album charted in the Top10 of the annual best-of-the-year-lists of most major online and offline music magazines. II charted in the Top 100 of all major European territories.
Recovering from the craze of the world tour which kept them on the road for almost a year, Moderat started working on their third album in 2015. Being their most mature work to date, it deals with the global breakbeat continuum to a lesser extent. They direct their gaze inward, wondering: Where do we stand as humans, as men, as artists, as dads? Apparat’s lyrics give an unfiltered insight into his personal take on the journey we call life. Modeselektor reach another level, developing an intoxinating energy with their unique rhythmical textures.
Some say that contraditions create believable characters, and you will find a lot of contraditions in the music of Moderat: fun and profundness, ecstasy and melancholy. Within the frenzy of the strobe lights, Moderat do not only make you sweat. They might make you shed a tear as well.
