Cherry Red Records has released The Greatest Soul/Funk & Disco 12 Singles of the 70s and 80s — and it will bring you back. This is a four-disc set, and it is packed full of some of the most memorable 12-inch singles from Disco’s glory years. As you listen, you’ll recognize songs you didn’t even realize you had memory of, but if you were around in the 1970s and 1980s, you’ll remember most of these tunes.

Of course, we find 1977’s “Disco Inferno” in this collection. This most memorable chorus, “Burn, baby burn”, will bring you right back to the days of disco fever. It’s one of the longest tracks of this release and it is known for being featured in the movie Saturday Night Fever. The longest track, coming in at just over 11 minutes is also one you’ll recognize. It’s a cover of “Now That We Found Love” found on disc 4, and with an almost 3-minute breakdown, it’s obvious why this dance anthem made the cut. “Dancing In Outer Space” is a happy, funky just over nine and a half minute instrumental with electric keyboards throughout and an almost one minute musical break, then builds back up.

These discs will most definitely bring you back to a time when it was all about dancing, rhythm and the breakdown. It’s hard to not recognize Sister Sledge, Earth Wind and Fire and Parliament as you’re dancing down memory lane.
