SUZI MOON – “SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL”
PIRATES PRESS RECORDS
Suzi Moon, the newest member of the Pirates Press Records family, has just released her first single and music video for “Special Place In Hell.”
“The inspiration for the video comes from a 1965 Roman Polanski horror film called Repulsion It’s one of my favorites and I have always wanted to pay homage to the movie in my own way,” says Moon.
“Special Place In Hell” comes from Moon’s upcomingΒ Call The ShotsΒ 3 song EP, the debut solo release for the formerΒ CivetΒ member andΒ Turbulent HeartsΒ frontwoman.
Part of Moon’s intent with this video is to illustrate her attempts to balance her time and presence on social media. “Especially in today’s times when most of what artists do is online, there are these moments when you are dressing up and getting ready for “showtime” online. It’s not very satisfying when you turn off the camera at the end of the night and haven’t received any real physical connection. It can feel a bit empty, wanting more. Balancing Suzi at home baking bread in her sweatpants and Suzi online & in performance mode,” says Moon.
Filming during a pandemic proved to be a new challenge for Moon and director Eric Schraeder from The Enclave Live but did not deter them from realizing their artistic vision for the video by getting creative with lights, edits, and scenery.
Although Moon has been a part of the punk scene for the last 15 years, it was finally time to truly step into her own. “Songwriting is my passion & I really wanted to own that moving forward. Going solo was a totally natural progression for me. It just took some time for me to be ready. It’s a little bit scary but here I am, unapologetically Suzi Moon, puttin’ it all on the line for everyone that’ll listen!” says Moon.
Suzi Moon got her musical start by joining her older sisters in the all-female bandΒ Civet, releasing 2 albums on Hellcat Records and touring the world for 8 years. Moon then stepped front and center forΒ Turbulent Hearts, a DIY group that saw themselves landing spots at Punk Rock Bowling, the Vans Warped Tour, plus self-booking three consecutive Europe & UK summer tours.
It will only be a matter of time before Moon is back in her most comfortable setting – on stage with a microphone in hand and the spotlight shining on her.
