Jorja Smith, the 21-year-old from Walsall, England, has been making huge waves in the music industry after the recent release of her debut album, Lost & Found. Jorja Smith has strengths and weaknesses, as does every other artist, but her flaws outweigh her strengths. She can write a song, have it produced in a satisfactory manner, and put all of the necessary “song” elements in to make it sound complete, but she leaves a bad impression. Her infantile songwriting, vulnerable position, and the way she wears her influences on her sleeve are not appealing whatsoever.

The second track, “Teenage Fantasy”, is probably the only solid track on the record. Almost all of the other tracks are very mediocre and very tiresome. Jorja Smith still has a long way to come and the fact that she sounds like every other R&B artist, especially Rihanna, does not help her craft herself into a unique and original artist. Lost & Found is a step in the right direction but many more large strides of originality need to be taken until she becomes a unique and original artist.
