THE DROPUPS – “THE SHEFFIELD LIGHTS”
A Spill Exclusive Video Premiere
Sheffield Lights is a garage-punk-gypsy-doo-wop track that is better heard than explained, a song conceived on the shore of Lake Ontario while contemplating a starry night sky. The DropUps will be premiering the quirky video for Sheffield Lights at Junction City Music Hall, on Saturday March 24th, the one-year anniversary of their bi-monthly Collective-Arts sponsored “Put Your Boot Up” event that brings together local and visiting bands to get the crowd moving. If you haven’t yet heard of The DropUps, it’s time you finally immerse yourself in the musical alchemy that has had audiences grooving at their live shows for many years. Start with a little gypsy-skank, then add a few tablespoons of garage-punk and a few dashes of junkyard-funk. Sprinkle in some reggae, surf and doo-wop, then top with Greek-Cypriot folk for added flavour. Throw all ingredients in a blender and you get a really original sounding band that makes music to move the body and vibrate the soul. Recently signed to Trouble Town Records, The DropUps’ three-track debut EP “Going Rogue” was released in November 2017 and showcases their versatile musicianship, song-writing chops, and exuberantly creative style.
