DUCKS LTD. SHARE GRANT MCLENNAN COVER FT. MARTIN COURTNEY (REAL ESTATE) “EASY COME, EASY GO” | SPRING TOUR SUPPORTING YUMI ZOUMA STARTS THURSDAY
CARPARK RECORDS
Ducks Ltd. today shared their winning, breezy cover of Grant McLennan’s “Easy Come, Easy Go,” which also features Real Estate’s Martin Courtney. “We’re on the record as being big Go-Betweens fans, and this song is from my favorite Go-Between, Grant McLennan’s first solo record from right after the band broke up. I think it’s one of his best songs. It uses figurative language in a way that feels plain spoken and direct, and it incorporates contemporary imagery in a way that feels timeless. If it’d had been on a Go-Betweens album, it would have been one of their classics,” explains guitarist/vocalist Tom McGreevy of the song. “This was our first time working with Martin, and it was really fun! We went to his extremely haunted studio in Beacon, NY, on a day off on tour and did the whole track in one day. It was super interesting to work with someone who has been making a similar kind of music to us for a long time. Our overall processes and instincts were super similar, but he had some insights and ideas we would never have arrived at on our own.” “Easy Come, Easy Go” follows Ducks Ltd.’s cover of Camera Obscura’s classic “Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken” (featuring Gep Repasky from Lunar Vacation) released last July, and is out now via Carpark Records.
Ducks Ltd. will head out on the road later this week for a tour supporting Yumi Zouma in North America, beginning April 30th at Washington, DC’s Black Cat and including a May 2nd show at Brooklyn, NY’s Warsaw and a May 19th show at Los Angeles, CA’s Pacific Electric. The band has been steadily touring over the past year, playing with artists like Trace Mountains, Truth Club, and The Tubs–as well as at festivals including Spain’s Canela Party and England’s End of the Road. A current itinerary is below.
Released in early 2024, Ducks Ltd.’s sophomore album Harm’s Way arrived to great press from Pitchfork (review), Paste (feature and review), Stereogum (‘Footnotes’ feature), FLOOD Magazine (‘Influences’ playlist), Brooklyn Vegan, Exclaim!, The FADER, and Uproxx’s Indiecast podcast, among others, as well as a second KEXP live and a debut Audiotree session. The album’s singles “Heavy Bag,” “Train Full of Gasoline,” “Hollowed Out,” and “The Main Thing” also caught the attention of Billboard, Consequence, Paste, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and Uproxx, among others.
