MALINOWSKI OF BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH ANNOUNCES SOLO LP UNDER A LANDSLIDE OF STARS AVAILABLE MARCH 13
DINE ALONE RECORDS
JUNO Award-winning and Platinum-selling artist Jay Malinowski, best known as one half of Bedouin Soundclash, returns under his solo moniker MALINOWSKI, to announce Under A Landslide of Stars, his first solo album in over a decade, out March 13, 2026, via Dine Alone Records. Alongside the announcement, MALINOWSKI shares new single “Holy Guns”, available now across all digital streaming platforms.
In his latest offering, Malinowski sings about the radicalization of love and devotion into hate and destruction. Written from the perspective of a soul slipping between faith and fanaticism, “Holy Guns” follows a voice who has been rejected and is teetering on the edge of revelation and ruin: “I get so close to God sometimes that I think that I might die.”
As the chorus hits, a 150-person choir chants: “Guns for each and everyone/let’s shoot ourselves to heaven/like a bullet in the sun.” What begins as exaltation of one becomes the bloodlust of the group. “I can understand the lone soul who turns radical,” Malinowski continues, “but a congregation, bound by faith, who enact their devotion through violence is wild. And to further believe that God reserves a special place in heaven for such acts is a plot torn from the pages of Camus.”
“Holy Guns” became the heartbeat of Under A Landslide of Stars, an exploration of love stretched from the intimate to the infinite. “The album is about love and devotion,” Malinowski explains. “I was writing about the deep love I have for my wife Steph and my son Finn, and then juxtaposing that against pseudo-fanatical characters I conjured up in my mind that are expressing love for their god(s) in impossibly twisted and violent ways.”
Recorded at the legendary Armoury Studios in Vancouver and mixed in Los Angeles by Davey Badiuk (Liam Gallagher/Dragonette), Under A Landslide of Stars features choirs across the continent: from gospel singers in New Orleans featuring the work of Rick Nelson (Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers) and Clint Maedgen (Preservation Hall Jazz Band), to a 150 person community choir recorded live in a church in Victoria, British Columbia.
The album traces the thread of love as it unfurls, stretching outward in ever-widening circles until its expression inverts. Yet rather than sinking into nihilism or drifting into detachment, the album turns its gaze toward redemption: a return to the sacredness found in the smallest gestures, and the intimate authenticity of love for those around you. “We live in wild times,” smiles Malinowski. “Sometimes I forget the stars above, how immaterial and small it all is under that landslide of stars.”
A testament to the power of his songwriting, Jay’s music has been covered by artists ranging from Sturgill Simpson, Diplo, to Dove Cameron. He has collaborated with artists ranging from Preservation Hall Jazz Band, to The Interrupters, to Philly House legend King Britt, to Darryl Jennifer of D.C. hardcore pioneers Bad Brains, to Frank Turner. Malinowski released his first solo endeavour, Bright Lights & Bruises, in 2010, followed by the ambitious double album Martel (2014), a concept project inspired by his French Huguenot ancestry that also included his debut novel Skulls & Bones and a series of pen-and-ink drawings published by HarperCollins.
Beyond music and writing, he is also a graduate in Fine Arts from Queen’s University. His visual work has been exhibited nationally, with a large-scale portrait installed in Tofino and recent paintings featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, documenting the life of Chicago Bulls champion Craig Hodges.
As a founding member of Canadian duo Bedouin Soundclash, Malinowski quickly rose to international acclaim when the sophomore Platinum-selling album Sounding a Mosaic (2004), featuring the global hit “When The Night Feels My Song”, earned Bedouin a JUNO Award for Best New Group. Over the years, the band has continued to evolve its sound, weaving influences of reggae, soul, jazz, gospel, and electronic across acclaimed albums like Street Gospels (2007), Light the Horizon (2010), and MASS (2019).
Bedouin Soundclash’s latest album, We Will Meet In A Hurricane, arrived to critical acclaim in 2022 via Dine Alone Records. Co-produced by Malinowski and Colin Stewart (The New Pornographers, Destroyer, Dan Mangan, Black Mountain), the buoyant and soulful tracks on We Will Meet In A Hurricane find Bedouin digging back into their musical roots, steeped in the border-bending sounds the band is known for.
Renowned for their incredible live shows, the duo has shared the stage with a laundry list of iconic artists, including No Doubt, Ben Harper, Damian Marley, The Roots, and Bad Brains, to name just a few. Last year, the band celebrated the 20th anniversary of Sounding a Mosaic with an extensive Canadian tour, and supported the inimitable Frank Turner on his North American run, including a performance at his award-winning festival, Lost Evenings VII, in Toronto.
