THE HARPOONIST – “GOOD PEOPLE”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
After 17 years as part of acclaimed duo The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, vocalist and harmonica virtuoso Shawn Hall aka – The Harpoonist now goes it alone and today announces his first solo record Did We Come Here To Dance will be out this summer via Tonic Records. The first single from the album is called ‘Good People’ out today and we’re proud to be able bring the exclusive premiere of the video here at Spill.
With a little help from Big Sugar’s Gordie Johnson, ‘Good People’ showcases an infectious energy, set against a swirling backdrop of electronic voices and organ chords. It’s an energetic fusion of rock, funk, and soul and marks the start of an exciting new journey for Shawn.
‘”Good People” hit me like a brick to the head at my dining room table about a year ago, sort of like a mantra of some kind,’ says Shawn. ‘I had this dizzying nature whirling around in me – it’s a call to action, in its simplest form asking “did we come here to dance or come here to die?”‘
It’s a great video too, cleverly made with Shawn chasing and fighting himself in the wilderness. It’s clearly a metaphor for something but we’ll let you decide, check out the exclusive below.
