Aurelia & Icarus Moth today have released their new EP PROMETHEANS. The 5 track EP is a planet of inventive design, exploring eroding soundscapes and queer otherworldly escapism. They’ve also shared their haunting, rhythmic new single “SECTUMSEMPRA,” which follows EP singles “ABRASIVE,” “SUPERNOVA” (feat. Ehiorobo), and “FRACTURED” (feat. Echos). The EP and its singles have earned praise and support from The Big Takeover, SPILL Magazine, Earmilk, Magnet, RIFF, and more.
On the EP and it’s visual accompaniments, Aurelia has brought forth their expertise as a storied visual artist with work published in Vogue Italia, Wonderland, Alternative Press, and more. Icarus Moth, who works in commercial music, uses this project to experiment with new sonic textures and arrangement styles, pushing beyond genre conventions. What started as a blue body-paint brainstorm (and possibly just an excuse to wear tights) has become a multimedia exploration of identity, language, and connection — a labor of love years in the making from two best friends and long-time collaborators. An exploration of what it means to view humanity and language from the outside.
Featuring indie icons Echos and Ehiorbo, PROMETHEANS is both an homage to friendship on an interplanetary scale and a deeply personal expression of creative freedom — with most vocals freestyled in single takes by Aurelia.
