The Intelligence Service – Maladies
A Spill Exclusive North American Album Premiere
“Magic happened on the day we recorded the Maladies EP in Vancouver. Like the garage-punks we are, all four songs were recorded live-off-the-floor in a few hours. By the end, engulfed in a haze, we were submerged in a deep collective psychedelic trance and recorded the epic 15 minute long “Distraction” in one take. Our upcoming full-length Transgressions LP, produced by Chris Woodhouse in Sacramento, was recorded in the same way.” ~Alex P.
About The Intelligence Service
The Intelligence Service is a four-piece psychedelic garage rock band from Vancouver, Canada. Disturbed vocals and chainsaw guitars coupled with riffy organs and analog synth drones sit atop melodic bass lines and driving drums–The Intelligence Service will tear your face off. The group has recorded a 4 song cassette EP, Maladies, soon to be released on Wiener Records (L.A., a subsidiary of Burger Records). They’ve just returned from Sacramento, CA, having recorded a ripping Full-Length LP with Chris Woodhouse, famed producer/collaborator of Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, The Intelligence, Pow!, the A-Frames and more. Lead vocals, guitar and songwriting prowess are provided by Alex, a former avant-garde visual artist. Heather, an old school garage and shoegaze aficionado, channels the future ghost of John Cale on vintage organ and analog synth (former bands include The Worst, The Electrosonics, The Picasso Set, Paper Moon). The Rhythm section is secured by Sam, bass melody wizard, and Tom, British ex-pat slapper of skins.Imagine Phil Spector’s Ronettes bowling in hellwith Subway Sect –buzzsaw guitars and manic vocals backed by angelic harmonies, catchy bass lines and fuzzed-out keys.
