RENOWNED ALTERNATIVE SINGER/SONGWRITER LLOYD COLE SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM ON PAIN

Renowned alternative singer/songwriter Lloyd Cole is set to release a brand new studio album; On Pain is due out on June 23rd via earMUSIC distributed in North America via BFD/The Orchard. On Pain is Coleβs twelfth album as a solo artist and features eight new songs, four of which are co-written by former bandmates, Commotions founding members Blair Cowan and Neil Clark, who also perform on the record. The album is produced by Chris Merrick Hughes (Tears For Fears, Peter Gabriel, Adam And The Ants) and was recorded in Coleβs attic studio, The Establishment. As a special for all fans limited and signed On Pain art prints will be made available.
On Pain is a collection of 8 masterfully created electronic songs. Coleβs distinguishable voice and sophisticated lyricism invite the listener into the mindset of someone who has reached old age and is coming to terms with that. Of On Pain, Lloyd Cole commented, βIβm excited to still be finding new methods, new perspectives, new sounds. The album may be nearing commercial death, but my career has been in that state for almost 30 years and here we are, still, and I still want to make albums. I still want to be heard.β
Lloyd Cole established himself as one of the most articulate songwriters of the post-punk era. With a remarkable discography of 15 albums to date, Coleβs work never compromised the high creative value that he has proven to provide over his distinguished career. Lloyd Cole rose to stardom being the frontman of British pop-rock band Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. With three albums they scored Top 10 twice and Top 20 once in the UK. All albums were certified gold and 5 of their singles were Top 40 singles in the UK.
