ICONIC CANADIAN PUNK-ROCK BAND HEADSTONES SIGN TO DINE ALONE RECORDS
RELEASE NEW SINGLE “NAVIGATE” FEATURING DALLAS GREEN
With a career spanning nearly four decades, multiple gold and platinum certifications, Headstones make a triumphant return with their new single, “NAVIGATE”, featuring Dallas Green (Alexisonfire, City and Colour, You+Me). Released today via their new label home, Dine Alone Records, the track is accompanied by a performance video filmed at Dine Alone HQ in Toronto, directed by longtime visual collaborator and director of photography Gord Hawkins.
Frontman Hugh Dillon, speaking on the band signing to Dine Alone, says, “This is a real deal, hands-on record company. Everything about them is exciting. They are authentic, passionate and real, and we’re honoured to be a part of it.”
Dine Alone founder Joel Carriere adds, “Headstones and Dine Alone Records have been out there carving our own paths, like a couple of wild hearts in a world full of squares. It’s about time we teamed up and turned this scene into a real ‘Goo Goo Muck’ kind of party!”
The collaboration with Green came about unexpectedly during a casual visit to Revolution Recording. Dillon shares, “The collaboration with Dallas was effortless and electric. This is a musician who unlocks the potential of a song. We have a mutual engineer and friend, Luke Schindler, who connected us, and we just hit it off. I have an incredible appreciation for his work and work ethic. His ability to surgically find and execute harmonies was impressive and profoundly appreciated.”
Green adds, “I nonchalantly mentioned that if they wanted any background vocals to let me know. I was in the studio the next day singing on this badass tune. It was a real pleasure working (and chirping) with them and I’m grateful that they let me tag along on the creative journey.”
Formed and fronted by the inimitably charismatic Hugh Dillon in 1987, Kingston, Ontario, Headstones have solidified their status as one of Canada’s most enduring and influential rock bands, carving out a unique space in Canadian rock with their no-nonsense punk energy, and relentless live performances.
The band’s debut album, Picture of Health (1993), propelled them to national fame with hits like “Cemetery” and “When Something Stands for Nothing.” Over the years, they’ve delivered a string of acclaimed albums, including Teeth and Tissue (1995), Smile and Wave (1997), and Nickels for Your Nightmares (2000).
After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, Headstones roared back in 2011, proving their staying power with hard-hitting records like Love + Fury (2013), Little Army (2017), and Flight Risk (2022). Flight Risk featured the song “Ashes,” a collaboration between Dillon and longtime friend Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown), with the track featured in their co-created Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. Hugh is also an executive producer, writer, and actor on the show, starring alongside Jeremy Renner.
This latest chapter continues to build on their legacy, with “NAVIGATE” marking yet another evolution in their sound. Decades in, Headstones remain as vital and uncompromising as ever, proving that true rock and roll never fades; it only hits harder with time.
