YUKON BLONDE CHANNEL THE CHAOS AND CAMARADERIE OF BAND LIFE IN NEW SINGLE “COLOURS OF MY DREAMS”
DINE ALONE RECORDS
For alternative rock band Yukon Blonde, being in a band is more than just playing music – it’s about navigating the complicated, beautiful mess of relationships, creativity, and late-night load-outs. Their new single, “Colours of My Dreams,” captures the magic that happens when everything just clicks, even when life offstage doesn’t.
“Playing in a band is like being in a family,” says bassist/vocalist James Younger. “It’s a cliché, but most clichés stick around because they’re rooted in something real.”
“Colours of My Dreams” captures the exciting rush of everything falling into place – musically, emotionally, and creatively. “Songs are like jigsaw puzzles, and when the pieces click, it’s a brief, electric moment of collective joy,” the band explains. “A shared spirit that hits hard and true.”
Roll on the evening
Yeah I can’t wait to play heavy with you
And forget about the pain that you put me through
We shine on that crazy feeling
And I know that’ll make it alright
Wipe all the tears from under my eyes
But the song doesn’t ignore the more complex parts of band life, such as the tension, the fatigue, and the unspoken weight of years spent chasing something intangible. “There’s the other side too: the fights, the quiet grudges, the cold stares when someone’s not pulling their weight during a snowy 2 a.m. load-out in Montreal,” adds Younger.
Still through it all, the band keeps showing up. “Over the last decade, one thing’s stayed solid: when life goes sideways and the ground starts to shake, that damp room and this band have been the only place I’ve wanted to be,” shares Younger. “It’s the one thing that keeps setting me straight again.”
“Colours Of My Dreams” is a tribute to the resilience of a band that refuses to let go, and to the rare, luminous moments that make it all worthwhile. Stay tuned – there’s more where that came from!
