YEARS OF SHAME RELEASE NEW SINGLE “HEAT” AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM OUT EARLY 2026
ICY COLD RECORDS
To wrap up this week packed with single releases, I’m thrilled to present a brand new project joining the Vous Connaissez? roster: Years Of Shame. This is the solo project of two members of the coldgaze band Dead, namely singer Berne Evol and guitarist Brice Delourmel (also active and recommended as a solo artist under the Giirls moniker). Friday, November 14th, was a day to remember, as we were treated to their very first single: “Heat.” This track clearly announces the explosive mix of industrial, cold wave, and shoegaze that the duo is known for, and it certainly whets the appetite for what’s to come. Their debut album is expected in early 2026 and will naturally find its place on Icy Cold Records, the home of music for darkish, thrill-seeking individuals. Highly recommended for fans of The Soft Moon, Nine Inch Nails, but also The Cure, and Kontravoid.
Have you ever partied in Doc Martens? Because you’re bound to with this first single from Years Of Shame, with its goth dancefloor sound. “Heat” is a real head-turner: pure cold wave melodies juxtaposed with a relentless, driving drum machine. Behind it all, the heavy bass kicks in to crank up the heat even more. Up front, Berne’s voice stakes out its territory, somewhere between Robert Smith and Luis Vasquez, delivering the kind of chorus that’s hard to shake. “I keep breathing/it’s fine/it’s okay/I’m gonna be alright,” or resilience after a breakup. A paradoxical theme in such a festive and upbeat atmosphere! Brice tells us more about the genesis of this single and his feelings about it:
