Continuing a run of adventurous standalone releases, Strange Plants unveil “You Say Falling,” a hypnotic and anthemic psych-pop single that challenges conventional ideas of success, stability, and what it means to truly thrive. Wrapped in dreamy melodies, bouncy rhythms, and the band’s signature blend of retro-pop hooks and psychedelic textures, the track offers an uplifting reminder that the lives others misunderstand are often the ones lived most authentically.

“Our sound is retro pop with lots of rock and psych influences,” Matt says. “There’s always a healthy dose of weird without robbing it of its fun and listenability.”

While “You Say Falling” stands confidently on its own, it also forms part of a growing body of work that may eventually become the band’s next full-length record. Together with their recent releases, it continues to expand Strange Plants’ kaleidoscopic musical world while pushing their songwriting into increasingly adventurous territory.

Born from the creative partnership of Travis Flint and Matt Brannon (former members of Halifax alt-country outfit Hot Mondy) Strange Plants finds the duo exploring new sonic terrain rooted in vintage psychedelia, psych-pop, and classic rock.

Their 2025 self-titled debut was recorded in just eight days at Nashville’s iconic Creative Workshop Studio with longtime friend and producer Robbie Crowell, and features 12 tracks glazed in analog warmth and experimental flair.

With “You Say Falling,” Strange Plants continue to blur the line between dreamy psych-pop, vintage rock, and modern indie, delivering a hypnotic anthem that celebrates individuality while reminding listeners that sometimes the greatest freedom comes from embracing the paths others simply don’t understand.
