PORTUGAL. THE MAN SURPRISE EP ULU SELECTS VOL #2 OUT NOW
KNIK
Indie favorites Portugal. The Man are back with the surprise EP uLu Selects Vol #2, out now on KNIK. Arriving on the heels of their recent collab track “Glide” with the Stockholm-collective NEIKED, the band continues to make their mark as innovators in the alternative space.
Featuring the recently released, spectral single, “V.I.S.,” and three never-before-heard tracks, uLu Selects Vol #2, finds Portugal. The Man pulling back the curtain and delivering a blisteringly honest collection of sonic exorcisms. Across its four tracks—“V.I.S.,” “Silver Spoons,” “Big Baby Bogota,” and “I Got This”—the band leans fully into discomfort, vulnerability, and the warped pop sensibility that only Portugal. The Man can offer.
From the spectral swell of “V.I.S.” to the high and come-down chaos of “Silver Spoons” featuring Lucius and produced by Jeff Bhasker —a track that shirks responsibility with a grin and unleashes something bigger, meaner, and more suited to survive its broken environment: a demon in a devil town—to the burnout swagger and disconnection of “Big Baby Bogota,” featuring Francisca Valenzuela, Estereomance, and Jeff Bhasker this EP doesn’t just explore chaos—it lives in it.
Closing with the danceable defiance of “I Got This,” featuring Paul Williams, the band celebrates disorder with a pounding rhythm, a sly “Around the World”-style interpolation, and a callback to Chris Black Changed My Life: “Why don’t you go to fucking Disneyland and build a monument to your delusional thinking..” Here, the line becomes a full-blown rejection of performative pain and false redemption, flipping the idea of salvation on its head. If there’s survival here, it’s self-earned—quiet, isolated, and without a sympathetic witness. With Portugal. The Man’s signature blend of irony, intimacy, and offbeat brilliance Vol #2 doesn’t offer resolution, it offers beautifully off-kilter release.
