MICHAEL DES BARRES “I WAS SAVED IN ’64” VIDEO | SPOKEN WORD ROCK AND ROLL
RUM BAR RECORDS
Michael Des Barres is back with a new video for his spoken word rock and roll poem, “I Was Saved in ’64,” debuting on YouTube today. The new visual is for the b-side to the legendary rock and roll and Hollywood provocateur’s Rum Bar Records 7-inch, “Kiss or Kill Me,” which dropped last month.
Des Barres has been in the limelight for several decades now, balancing a high-wire act of rock and roll aristocracy and on-screen charisma that has positioned the British-born and Los Angeles-based actor and performer like few in his class.
From a litany of notable and ground-breaking bands (Silverhead, Detective, Chequered Past, Power Station at Live Aid) to an extensive acting resume (“Murdoc” on iconic ‘80s series MacGyver and hundreds of films and shows) to currently hosting a daily rock and soul history program on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM, Des Barres has seen and done it all.
Now, “I Was Saved in ’64” pulls back the veil on his rock and roll changed the trajectory of his life, carrying us to an age of awakening and intemperance that will never be replicated again. Check it out below.
Artist Quote
“London, sex, drugs, B.B. King. Little Richard, young English kids, Mick Jagger, Plant. So many people trying to find freedom and liberation. Three chords are all you need. It’s a teenage mantra, with a little help from illegal substances. And flared jeans. I just love the simplicity of it.” ~Michael Des Barres
