BLUSH ANNOUNCE SIGNING TO KANINE RECORDS & SHARE “X MY HEART” SINGLE + VIDEO
BEAUTY FADES, PAIN LASTS FOREVER OUT AUGUST 1
Singaporean dreampop group Blush today announce their signing to Kanine Records and share the single/video “X My Heart”. The track is a slice of undeniably sunny guitar pop that subverts the melancholy message encapsulated in the line “cross my heart and I hope to die in this sick sad world that’s never mine.”
“X My Heart” is accompanied by a vibrant visual that takes a macabre spiral from wistful lovesickness into dark romantic delusion.
“X My Heart” is taken from the album Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever, which arrives on August 1st, and is available for preorder on limited edition pink vinyl here. This album finds Blush on a mission to create pristine pop that explores life’s bittersweet moments. With intricately crafted compositions that swirl between dreamscapes and erratic noise, the four-piece turn heartbreak into something deceptively satisfying.
Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever follows the 2023 album release Supercrush, and features a rejuvenated Blush lineup, with mainstays Soffi Peters (vocals) and Daniel Pei (bass) drafting in Darell Laser on guitar. Longtime trusted collaborator Jared Lim returns on production and guitar.
Continuing the ‘tangled family tree’ collaborating tradition of the recent Singapore indie world, Blush share their creative talent with some of the brightest lights on the scene. Lim reps the candy-coated indiepop band Sobs, while Laser plays with mathy emo rockers Forests. With songwriting contributions coming from Peters, Laser, and Lim, the subtle influence of the latter’s two bands is felt on Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever. The album serves up what are arguably Blush’s most earworm-worthy melodies, exemplified on “X My Heart”, while album closer “Swallowing 999999 Needles” is undeniably the heaviest moment yet committed to the Blush catalog, with Laser’s wracked screams bursting through walls of guitar howls and feedback.
Blush also today announce a US tour, which kicks off in August. The tour crosses the nation and includes Blush’s first ever dates on the east coast Budding Chicago shoegazers sunshy join for all dates, while all west coast dates also feature South Korean-via-Colorado solo dreampop artist Precocious Neophyte. Tickets go on sale today HERE.
