TEN MINUTE DETOUR – “BETTY”

Calgary rock band Ten Minute Detour releases “Betty”, the opening track off their forthcoming sophomore album “Common Pleasure“. After releasing the debut album “Lay it Down” in the summer of 2015, and playing hundreds of shows across Canada, TMD paired up with producer, Lincoln Parish, recording seven tracks in seven days. Common Pleasure is to be released in early 2018.

“Inspired by my grandma Betty, the song was written about the last time I saw her before she passed. I had hooked up her 8-track player, and put on one of her dads cassettes from the 1940’s. Not having heard him in decades, she was moved to tears and couldn’t stop dancing around the kitchen – this was in her mid-90’s. It was a surreal experience seeing how music can ignite the soul, present us with pure emotion and joy.” ~ Andrew Shier
