“Planet B”Β is the first single off of the forthcoming EP, Here as One, a collaboration between the Philly-based duo Fried Monk (Lucas Kozinski)Β and Beautiful-Fortune (Jameel Farruk). While “Planet B” tells a story of a desire to escape and be left alone, it’s melancholy lust for isolation is juxtaposed with a bright and anthemic indie pop sheen.
Kozinski, grounded in dusty boom bap and downtempo electronic, fuses with Farruk’s melodious alternative indie-rock vibes. The culmination of their efforts is a sound that is somewhat Kid Cudi meets Empire of the Sun meets the Gorillaz. “Planet B” creates an upbeat soundscape in irony alongside a dark lyrical landscape.

“After finishing another track from our upcoming EP, we decided to dive back into the folder of home recordings that was the base of this project. Monk shuffled through them and landed on a pretty electric guitar piece around 4 chords that caught his ear immediately. By shifting the audio down a few semi-tones, this started the song ‘Planet B’. Immediately, we knew this was going to be the single.” ~Jameel Farruk
