DOVER LYNN FOX – “WHEN YOUTH WAS WASTED”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE MUSIC PREMIERE
Fresh off the heels of her recent single, ‘Phantom Lover,’ Dover Lynn Fox makes a triumphant return with her latest introspective piece, ‘When Youth Was Wasted’, our final taste of what’s to come before the release of her EP ‘Low Moon‘ due May 3rd
Infusing a blend of indie pop, folk, and rock elements, Fox’s latest endeavour is supported by the harmonious backing of a full band. Inspired by the stark beauty of a frosty Canadian winter, her music intertwines with the poignant voyage of the double-edged sword of nostalgia. Drawing comparisons to the evocative sounds of The Verve, Vance Joy, Father John Misty, and Amy Macdonald, Fox confronts the notion of avoiding the regret of squandered youth.
Fox said of the single, “As I recalled the previous summer, my mind settled on blue waves, highway drivers, sunsets, thunderstorms and the people that made that summer memorable…As I continued to write, winter came to represent hindsight and the times at which you second guess yourself, and the summer came to represent the choices and the things you’ve done, the people you have remained with and those you have broken away from. Sometimes, it’s hard to know if you’re doing the right and on the right path. It’s about never wanting to look back and believing your youth was wasted.”
