NEON INDIAN
@ VELVET UNDERGROUND, TORONTO
NOVEMBER 21, 2019
It was a rainy night in Toronto, but that didn’t stop fans from packing the house to watch electronic band Neon Indian at the Velvet Underground. As they are known for their fun and experimental sound, it was definitely going to be a dance party from start to finish.
Opening with disco throwback “Dear Skorpio Magazine”, lead singer Alan Palomo freely danced and moved his body to the music, while the audience joined in.
The band continues to perform their set filled with catchy, dance-filled tunes, including “Annie,” “Toyota Man,” “The Glitzy Hive,” and “Terminally Chill.” Palomo took the time to engage with the audience, letting the crowd sing parts of the song, while they waved their hands back and forth to the music. He never seems to run out of energy. His vocals were on point.
The encore featured the synthpop-filled “Hex Girlfriend” and “Polish Girl,” before ending the show with a cover of Talking Head’s “This Must Be The Place.”
If you are looking for a show that is fun and energetic, Neon Indian is undoubtedly the band you need to see.
