The MVMNT collective took a break from their residency at Boogie and La Piscina this weekend to raise funds for Palestine. Taking their talents to Tapestry in Kensington Market, the group hosted a free event, accepting donations on behalf of the PCRF (Palestine Childrenโs Relief Fund). The location and free entry price allowed for a constant flow of people to come in and out. MVMNT member Matt Hennessy told us this was the third fundraiser he has been a part of at Tapestry, saying it has been a successful medium of contributing to the cause. Hennessy partnered with MVMNT founder Landan Brawley as part of their Fairy Bread duo on stage. While the crowd was sparse, the duo kept things live and energetic. Through constant beat switches and experimental drums, there was not a dull moment during their entire set. MVMNTโs other co-founder Maddmon took the stage around 1 AM. His set put people in the mood to groove, creating some consistent action on the dance floor. The event also featured Annamite, Farouki, Shawn Cruz and Tim Kav. Overall, it was great night to chat with people and watch very talented artists doing what they do best. The venueโs backyard patio added to the intimate setting and was the location for tons of insightful conversations.
