IMAGINE DRAGONS: LIVE FROM THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL (WITH THE LA FILM ORCHESTRA)
TRAFALGAR RELEASING
MARCH 26 & 29, 2025
Playing alongside the LA Film Orchestra, something special was ignited as fan favourites were reimagined. One can only speculate on the enormity of the experience, with a crowd of more than 67,000, regular glimpses of fire in their eyes wholly engrossed, as was I, even through film, which is hard to do.
The show was magnanimous from start to finish, sucking me in, with electricity in the air. The show progressed and lead vocalist Dan Reynolds completely dominated the stage like a prized stallion, his powerful vocals and grooving rhythm were complemented by strong emotional links to mental health and strength in music, as a therapy from a young age… not a diehard fan myself, I found myself grooving along and equally moved.
Moving through the songs, the presentation was as you’d expect, with just under two hours, all the fan favourites were featured. However, a clear standout was “It’s Time”, a song humbly dedicated to Tyler Robinson, a 17-year-old fan of Imagine Dragon, who passed from cancer before the band’s enormous success, was crushing, with Reynolds’ brought to tears, complete with grainy video footage of the original concert calling Robinson up on stage in Utah, as the backdrop (still available on YouTube if you have the strength to watch); a significant moment to the artists and fans alike, a crippling impact vicariously felt.
After the show, my son admitted he too has feelings of sadness but finds comfort in Reynolds’s words. Imagine Dragons has that in spades: a real connection with a diverse demographic and a clear message. It did not disappoint.
