WHITNEY K
BUBBLE
FIRE RECORDS

Sometimes, when an artist has a great voice, it just might not matter what they sing about or what the songs are like. Well, there should at least be a song there. But if the lyrics do have some substance and the songwriting is up to par, you get something there that is really worth listening.
Current case in point for the latter is Bubble, the new album by Whitney K. This singer songwriter from Montreal, has quite a few things going right for him, a voice that is a cross between the one of Bill Callahan and Jeff Tweedy and a songwriting touch that ranges between some of the greats like David Ackles and the two mentioned above as well as others. Whitney K has the capacity to make more waves than the slew of releases he had so far have done.
This time around, he goes for a more subdued set of arrangements that still make his songs sound full-bodied and fleshed out, all done in a home recording studio of his band members. A subdued gem that begs discovering.
