WHITEHALL
NATIONAL FINALS RODEO
ENCI RECORDS

Big record companies seem to be always giving up on something, and these days it might be that melodic, guitar-driven pop/rock. People over at ENCI Records don’t seem to think that is a good idea, and keep pumping up some high-quality pop/rock, and latest band in that line of theirs is Brooklyn-based band Whitehall and their latest album National Finals Rodeo.
As is usually the case, trends might come and go (and come back),and these guys (Paddy McKiernan, vocals, guitar, Avery Greeson guitar, Brennan Clark bass, and Davis Rowe, drums) hold their musical position based on all those 90s indie purveyors of the similar sound, from Lemonheads to Goo Goo Dolls and elsewhere, and they do it for all the right reasons, as their sound is fully developed, full of good hooks and guitar lines, all that high-quality pop/rock requires. Heard it before, sure, but then the question is—why not again?
