THE BONES OF J.R. JONES
RADIO WAVES
TONE TREE MUSIC

Those following Spill Magazine a bit more closely will surely be aware that behind The Bones of J.R. Jones moniker is New York-based artist Jonathon Linaberry, a man behind some subtle set of singles and albums, with his latest, Radio Waves, being his sixth.
For those less familiar with Linaberry’s sound, one might look at the producer credit for this album, where the name of Robbie Lackritz, who also produced Feist and Bahamas among others, might strike the right chord.
And a right chord it is, as Linaberry’s music takes quite similar paths to that of the two above-mentioned artists, but so does the quality of his music too – anywhere between sophisticated singer-songwriters that have a penchant for layered songwriting, detailed arrangements and lyrics that are a match to that.
Linaberry explains, “These songs live in the night. It’s the sound of a kitchen heavy with the leftover heat of an August day and a table crowded with drinks, of arguments and first loves and first heartbreaks of not living up to your potential, of breaking promises, of being human.” And it is a description that truly fits this album.
