Terry Emm
Wish You Were Here
Azez Records/Shellshock
British singer-songwriter Terry Emm, wasn’t around for a while (seven years to be exact, that is), at least in that role. Then, back in 2021, it was announced that his single βGentlyβ had been featured in award-winning Toronto-based author Jacquelyn Middletonβs best-selling Christmas novel, The Certainty Of Chance.
That seems to have spurred Emm back into songwriting and recording action, as he is back now with his latest album, Wish You Were Here.
No, Emm is not taking the route of that famous Pink Floyd album, well, not exactly. Emm’s songwriting here does take a more complex road than some other singer-songwriters take, as do the song arrangements, such as on βMorning Mistβ and βIsland Soulβ.
Yet, at no point does Emm overcomplicate things, he lets his songs take a natural route, and his vocals and lyrics just add an extra layer that makes them really work. It is an assured comeback that just shows the reasons he was featured in an award-winning novel.
