SUN ATOMS
EVERYTHING FOREVER
GLAMOUR GOWNS RECORDS
Those following more closely The Spill’s video premieres might have already been grooving to Sun Atom’s “Ceiling Tiles” video. If that worked for you, the Portland band’s latest album, Everything Forever, will work even more so.
For those less initiated, Sun Atoms are led by producer and bassist Peter G. Holmström who is also guitarist for The Dandy Warhols and is a member of Pete International Airport.
Holmström has gathered an excellent crew here: vocalist Jsun Atoms, multi-instrumentalist June Kang, saxophonist-trumpeter-guitarist Mars de Ponte, drummer Eric Rubalcava and guitarist Derek Spencer Longoria-Gomez, with the added help of Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock on “Narco Polo”.
Throughout, Sun Atoms give us a heady alt-rock combination of The Dandy Warhols and LCD Soundsystem – like rhythms that take inroads elsewhere with both rhyme and reason sounding sometimes like an updated version of New Order. Quite a tricky thing to achieve, but Sun Atoms seem to be doing it with ease.
