Hand of Juno’s debut album, Psychotic Banana, is a fascinating blend of metal, electronic, and techno, featuring captivating female vocals. The album excels at merging these subgenres, creating a turbulent yet intentional groove that’s challenging to settle into. The presence of women in metal has grown, breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes in this traditionally male-dominated genre. Hand Of Juno is no exception, with their clever vocal manipulation and lyrical depth making this album a truly unique experience.

Speaking of the groove, “Psychotic Banana” nails it. The track starts with bass lines that blend into crisp, sultry vocals before exploding into metal madness—precisely what I love about this band. The ebb and flow approach and clever use of instrumentals are both psychotic and psychedelic, making it a nightmare of a track. The tracks intensify as you progress through the album, like blunt razor blades ripping at your skin. “Polline” epitomises this insanity, and I can only imagine their live performance being an absolute fever dream. When you hit “Hug My Death”, your brain will explode. The techno-sweet spin is gone, and your eyes roll back into your head. It’s absolutely astounding.

A phenomenal debut album—holy enchiladas! The trajectory is meticulously crafted and an absolute trip. If this is just the beginning, we better brace ourselves for what’s to come.
