Ships In The Night
Asleep In Midwinter
Independent
Ships In The Night, aka Alethea Leventhal is no stranger to Spill Magazine, but there are some compelling musical reasons for that. One more reason for her latest, albeit brief EP Asleep in Midwinter to find its place here too.
Leventhal has obviously come up with a musical concept that works, one that could bear a somnambulist tag, a situation when a person is sleepwalking in places between light and dark, where lullabies meta morph into dark tones and back in a matter of seconds.
Picking up on the midwinter theme here, a time of the year, when light and dark quickly exchange places, Leventhal brings us snippets of music, with or (mostly) without vocals, as to underline how things can quickly change.
What is definitely clear here is that she is constantly perfecting and nuancing her art, as this some sort of a musical midpoint is only an indicator of good things yet to come from Ships In The Night.
