Montreal singer/songwriter Michael Feuerstack has dropped his latest release, Harmonize the Moon.

Usually, such records are like food constructed out of simple ingredients. You really have to be good at what you are doing, because there isn’t much out there behind which you can hide. Your vocals, instrumental capabilities, and above all your songwriting has to be above par to make any sensible impression.

Luckily for Feuerstack, he has all the characteristics of an archetypal singer/songwriter. His skills are certainly above average, his lyrics don’t falter, and his vocals have that mellow tone to get both across. Add to that the fact that his guitar skills are good enough, and that he has the good sense to add sparse additional instruments to the arrangements to make his songs even more appealing.

Some might say that we’ve heard this kind of stuff before, but Feuerstack hits that mellow, melancholic singer/songwriter nerve that practically any listener has, or should have. Harmonize the Moon does exactly what its title says.
