SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: LIPSTICISM – TWO MIRRORS FACING EACH OTHER

Lipsticism

Lipsticism
Two Mirrors Facing Each Other
Earth Libraries

Alana Schachtel who works under the moniker Lipsticism seems not to be a big fan of social media. Sure, she does have an Instagram page, and we learn that she resides in Chicago, and we know the name of her record company.

Yet, by listening to her latest album Two Mirrors Facing Each Other, we find out that she just might not need those, after all. Her brand of dream pop or shoegaze or dreamy psychedelia, or whatever you want to call it is all of those tags and a bit more.

Touring with Animal Collective’s Avey Tare a few years back, shows the similar sensibility to both Tare and his band, but also to a number of other artists that Schachtel incorporates into her electronically infused music with such an ease that it becomes clearly individual and personal.

It is very personal music that has so many qualities to endear it to practically any listener that is in for some multi-layered musical experience, perfectly suited for late nights.
