LARKIN POE
BLOOM + AN ACOUSTIC COMPANION VOL. II
TRICKI-WOO RECORDS

Rebecca and Megan Lovell (more professionally known as the duo, Larkin Poe) have become favourites for fans of blues and rock, even though they have had a relatively muted reception from critics. One can only theorize why contemporary music critics don’t seem to flock towards them. However, for the Georgia-born sisters, that doesn’t make too much difference for the listening masses.
That strong fanbase is there for all the right reasons. The instrumental and vocal capabilities of the sisters are brilliant, as well as their emotional involvement in the music they come up with. When Larkin Poe goes acoustic, all the emotion becomes even more evident, which is something they commonly do on the deluxe version of their album, Bloom, which includes, An Acoustic Companion Vol. II, a welcome extension to the album that features five stripped-down versions of songs from the Bloom LP.
As is always the case with Larkin Poe, they don’t miss a beat on their latest LP. This deluxe edition goes to show that the original album doesn’t lose any of its original sparkle as time goes on, and the stripped-down versions of the original songs add a magical touch to this deluxe version. All of this easily makes Bloom + An Acoustic Companion, Vol. II well worth your time and attention.
